St. Luke's Foundation

Making Saint Luke’s ministry happen.

“Our Foundation is as unique as it is active in ministry, assisting with both unbudgeted needs and new outreach opportunities.”

– The Rev. Richmond R. Webster

Foundation History

The foundation was established in 1974 with $8,500. As of 2023, this initial contribution has grown to be in excess of $3.4 million through ongoing gifts, bequests, and faithful stewardship of our assets. The Foundation’s “Distributions & Spending Policy” establishes that 3.5% of the average balance of the fund for the previous twelve quarters is distributed on an annual basis. So, it should go without saying that the more we have in the fund, the more we are able to do.

The Foundation is a part of a comprehensive program designed to ensure our church, ministry, community, and future is secure. It is designed to be an ever-growing source of funds to support Saint Luke’s.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why Does The Foundation Exist?

The Saint Luke’s Foundation exists to be a perpetual source of support for the church and community.

What Expenses Are Excluded From The Foundation's Purpose?

The Foundation is not to be used to defray normally budgeted expense items in the church.

How Are Decisions Made About Foundation Spending?

The Foundation is governed by the trustees of the Foundation. These individuals are responsible for allocating income from the Foundation on an annual basis set out in its mission and for approving distributions of principal, where appropriate. Donors may also direct that funds contributed to the Foundation be spent for specific purposes. The trustees oversee the distribution of all such directed funds. The trustees in turn report to the vestry and the parish about fundraising activities.
