Identifying Some of the Players on the Worlds Stage Today

Charles Ellis, retired teacher of World Religions, presents, “Identifying Some of the Players on the World’s Stage Today.” Charles will offer some general background on Islam and guidance on the difference between two main branches of that faith, Sunni and Shia.

Going beyond the story we know so well, the Rev. Richmond Webster will use maps, photos, current events, and the breadth of Scripture to bring new meaning and application to the Story of the Good Samaritan. Told by Jesus as he travels to Jerusalem, this oft told story is much more than an appeal to compassion or charity. Rather, it offers a new vision of what it means to be human, and a reminder that we are never alone.

For those interested in becoming members of Saint Luke’s or have an interest in learning more about the Episcopal Church. Classes will include topics such as Church History, The Book of Common Prayer, How the Bible Came to Be, Living the Christian Life, and Instructed Eucharist. The classes, taught by the Rev. Richmond Webster, also provide an avenue for asking questions about who we are as Episcopalians and members of Saint Luke’s.
