Haiti Earthquake Relief
Saint Luke's is accepting donations for relief in Haiti!
On January 12, Haiti was rocked by a very strong earthquake only 10 miles southwest of its capital, Port-au-Prince. Although the extent of the damage is still unknown, many are presumed dead and the physical damage is catastrophic, including the destruction of the Anglican Cathedral in Port-au-Prince, Cathédrale Sainte Trinité (Holy Trinity Cathedral).
Saint Luke's is accepting donations for earthquake relief. If you would like to donate toward the relief effort, please make checks payable to "Saint Luke's Church" and write "Haiti Relief" in the memo line. You may bring the check to the church during the week, mail it to "ATTN: Haiti Relief", or place the check in the offertory plate during Sunday services.
OR you may donate online -- click here!

To Our Brothers and Sisters in Christ:
“Give us all a reverence for the earth as your own creation, that we may use its resources rightly in the service of others and to your honor and glory.” --The Book of Common Prayer, p. 388
For Christians, caring for the earth is a holy calling, one which comes to us from a gracious God who so loved the world that he took on flesh and came among us. The beauty of God’s earth and its rich bounty are among God’s greatest gifts to us, and God calls us to treasure them and share them with love, compassion, and a desire that they be preserved and passed on for the blessing of future generations.
As we grow increasingly aware of the impact of human activity on our planet’s eco-systems, so our concern to be good stewards of creation should increase in like manner. Each of us has a part to play in the preservation of those delicate systems. Each of us, young and old, can find ways to minimize waste, save energy, and reduce what scientists’ call our “carbon footprint.” The long-term health of our planet, its water, air, land, and living creatures, depends upon our faithful response to the challenges of the present.
This little calendar is offered to you in hopes it can play a small part in helping you and your family members become better “stewards of creation” in this season of Lent. May this season be a time when you renew your commitment toward loving God and your neighbor, and cherishing the good earth our loving Father has given us.
