Why We Are Different
- Our students to teacher ratios are much lower than the state requirements, in addition to being lower than other school in this area. Our staff of over 30 trained teachers keeps our classroom numbers low and our academic standards high!
- We offer competitive rates and fees.
We believe that providing an environment and academic curriculum rich in various exposures is important in our efforts to help children achieve their potential. Our curriculum is developmental, child centered, age appropriate and flexible. SLDS focuses on individual growth and development allowing each child to reach their potential at their pace. Our classrooms are child centered allowing for greater social and emotional growth while striving for academic age related milestones relating to fine motor and gross motor skills and cognitive learning activities. We also offer various, optional, morning enrichment opportunities that emphasize our goal to educate mind, body and spirit.
We offer teaching in spiritual growth in weekly chapel lessons in the Nave and bi-monthly Catechesis of the Good Shepherd teachings in the atrium at Saint Luke’s. Our children attend a weekly Spanish class and music classes. We offer extra activities such as Sign Language, Spanish, and Music and Movement without the extra pricing.
- We offer sibling discounts.
- We have floater teachers rather than substitutes. These floaters help out in classrooms on a daily basis and if a teacher needs to be absent, the floater, who is familiar with the school and children, fills in for the teachers.
