A native of Florida, Chris is the Associate Rector for Outreach Ministries, Parish Life, Young Adult Ministries, and Communications. Chris is married to his college sweetheart, the former Nicole Roenick, a Benefits Consultant with Mercer. Chris and Nicole are the proud parents of two young children, Brayden and Layna, and a little yappy Schnauzer named Zoey.
Chris graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies from Stetson University. Chris then moved to Atlanta, GA where he received a Master of Theological Studies degree from Emory University, with a focus in comparative religion and conflict resolution. He was formerly the Director of Youth Ministries at Saint Luke's before moving to Alexandria, VA, where he received his Master of Divinity degree from the Virginia Theological Seminary. He has previously served in parishes in the Washington, DC area, including St. John's, Chevy Chase, MD, and the Washington National Cathedral, where he worked under the Rev. Canon John L. Peterson in the Center for Global Justice and Reconciliation.
Chris takes great interest in world religions, especially how religion effects conflict around the world. He has spoken at numerous conferences, schools, and churches on the development of religious conflict around the world, focusing primarily on Israel-Palestine and Kashmir (India-Pakistan), in addition to general lectures on specific religious traditions. Chris also speaks regularly on the use of technology in the church, focusing particularly on communications and the use of social media. |
